There is a specific glassware highly advised, as a brandy snifter.

We pour the cognac into the Brandy snifter glass. Although this glass may resemble a wine glass, it has a very short stem. This is not because it has to look short and stout, but there’s a reason. The reason it has a shorter stem because it is not supposed to be held by your fingers, but is hired as a grip as you are supposed to hold the glass between the stem employing all your fingers to help your palm to hold the glass, trespassing the heat of the palm to the liquid, helping it to release it’s aromas, That’s how folks you are supposed to have it.

What Is The Best Temperature To Taste Brandy

Brandy is traditionally served at room temperature, and as mentioned before, the gentle heat from your palms will help release the flavours of brandy when you swirl and sniff. You will get notes such as dried fruits, vanilla, caramel, oak, spices, etc.

Observe the colour of the brandy. Golden, amber or deep mahogany tells about how long the brandy has been aged.

The darker the brandy, the longer it’s aged… Duh!!

WARNING! – You’re forbidden to hold the wine glass with wine in the same way you hold your brandy snifter, it’s a crime, you could be behind bars.

Pro tip- For an accurate serving of brandy, pour till the 1st curve from the bottom of the glass.

Common Types Of Brandy.

Grappa – An Italian beverage made from Pomace (pomace is the leftover skin and stem, while making the wine.

Cognac – Double-distilled brandy is produced in the Cognac region of France.

Armagnac – Heads up! Just as cognac “Armagnac” (arr-mah-ni-yakh). A single distilled brandy that is produced in the Armagnac region of France. Armagnac has similar grape varietals to those of Cognac; however, with the addition of BACO 22A to Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard.
